January 1st is a time that inspires people to reflect on their past year and to set goals for the New Year. If running and surrounding yourself with great people are not already on your New Year’s resolution list, then myCrew is here to convince you otherwise. We will show you the ways to keep on running right through 2019.

Running has many benefits other than keeping in shape and super-boosting your metabolism for that extra piece of pie. It is proven to improve your mood, increase productivity in the workplace and, over time, increase your energy throughout the day (1). Running can also help you make new friends: over the past few years it has been trending as the new way to meet people and to network (2).

Here are a few proven ways to help you keep your goals going right through 2019:

1. Set concrete goals

Studies show that people who set concrete goals are way more likely to succeed in achieving them(3). In other words, you can’t hit the target if you don’t have one. Sit down and write a list of your goals for the upcoming year.

2. Set the right goals

Set S.M.A.R.T goals. They must be: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Time-based. Rather than saying “Run more”, a more effective goal would be “Run 3 times a week”. Learn how to make better goals here:

3. Create a plan

Schedule out your runs in advance and stick to the schedule. Listing or joining runs on myCrew will help you plan as well as match you with people who will hold you accountable to show up. Social commitment is one of the strongest behavioral hacks to keep you on track!

4. Surround yourself with the right people

Hang out and strive to meet the people who have similar goals and who inspire you to make positive changes in your life. The community section in myCrew is a perfect way to connect and meet new friends to help you stay motivated in your fitness goals.

See? It is not that complicated: set the right goals, create a plan and surround yourself with people who inspire and keep you accountable throughout the year. So in 2019, instead of joining a gym, join the myCrew community and transform your running or even your life for years to come.
